Let us introduce our doctors:
Mary Applegate, DVM
Dr.
Mary Applegate got her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University
of Illinois in 1990, after receiving a Bachelor’s degree in biology on the same
campus. She has practiced at Park Centre Animal Hospital since 1994, and feels a
close connection with her many long term clients and patients. She has two dogs:
Suzie, a wire haired terrier mix and Kylie an Australian Shepherd mix, and a
Burmese cat names Dexter. Dr. Applegate enjoys hiking with her dogs, 20th
century antiques, and reading.
Cathy Wydner, DVM
Dr.
Cathy Wydner graduated from Cornell University in 1988 with her DVM degree, and
1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She has been at Park Centre since 1997
and enjoys working with the nice pets and people of Alameda. Previously she
worked at Pets Unlimited in San Francisco, a 24-hour referral hospital where she
learned a lot but missed an ongoing connection with her clients and patients.
She has two cats ( polydactyl Jet Li, and long haired Ozzy) Dr. Wydner enjoys hiking, biking, scuba diving,
and cross country and downhill skiing.
Lydia Grant, DVM
Dr.
Lydia Grant received her DVM degree in 2006 from the University of California at
Davis, and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mills College in 1994. She joined
Park Centre as a veterinarian in January of 2007, but worked with us for five
years as a technician prior to attending veterinary school. She has a cat, Aisha and enjoys rock climbing, running, hiking/ camping, cooking (and
eating), skiing, and travel. Dr. Grant volunteered at the Marine Mammal Center
for almost ten years prior to vet school.
Sarah Scullin, DVM
Dr.
Sarah Scullin received her DVM degree in 2008 from the University of California at
Davis, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from UCLA in 2003. She joined
Park Centre as a veterinarian in July of 2009, after spending time working in the
San Diego Area. She has two cats, Sally and Lucy, and a dog named Hachiko. Sarah enjoys traveling, cooking, and makes a
mean jar of jam. She interned at the Oakland Zoo, and has performed Sea Turtle
research in Savannah Georgia during her time in school. She and her
husband have a new baby, Katie.
Here are some of our friendly staff:
Lupe Chauvin, RVT
Lupe
graduated from Western Career College in 1996 and obtained her Registered
Veterinary Technician license in 1997. She is an animal nurse, and helps us take
care of our patients by taking x-rays, drawing blood samples, etc. She has a
special talent to make animals feel comfortable. We have been lucky to have her
at Park Centre for 13 years. She currently has three dogs, two cats, and a
chicken named Chile. Lupe is originally from Peru and is fluent in
Spanish.
Fabiola Magoon
Fabiola has
been with Park Centre for over 15 years first as a Kennel
Assistant, and now a Veterinary Technician. She is an
accomplished artist (some of her work can be found in exam room
4) and is fluent in Spanish. She enjoys Salsa Dancing, her dog Santiago and cat
Indigo.
Tina Lozano, RVT
Tina
is a registered Veterinary Technician and attended the Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design. She works both as a
receptionist and as a technician so is multi-talented and can help out wherever
needed. She has two cats. Fluent in Spanish, Tina
likes to travel, go hiking and is a talented photographer. Outside of Park
Centre, Tina does pet sitting working with Jackie at
Island Pets.
Nghi Huynh, RVT
Nghi
is a registered Veterinary Technician and obtained a
Business Administration degree from Cal State Hayward, and an AA
degree in Veterinary Nursing from Western Career College in
2007. She is a member of the Bay Area Veterinary
Technicians Association. She has been with Park Centre
since 2005, has a French Bulldog named Maverick and enjoys
snowboarding, traveling and playing cards for money. She
is fluent in Vietnamese and Cantonese as well as English.
Nina Bubert, RVT
Nina is a Registered
Veterinary Technician who received a Bachelors
of Science degree in Biology from UC Santa Cruz and Masters of Conservation
Biology at the University of New South Wales in Sydney Australia. She has been working as both a Technician and Receptionist for
Park Centre since 2010. Her love for animals extends to her free
time. When she is not enjoying her cats Ozzy and Bailey and her dog Abby,
she volunteers for the Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary as well
as the Point Reyes National Seashore monitoring Harbor Seals.
Monica Bacina
Monica
joined Park Centre in 2007 as a Veterinary Assistant. She has
worked or volunteered at the Oakland SPCA, the Sulphur Creek Nature Center in
Hayward, the UC Davis Small Animal Hospital, the California Raptor Center,
worked with cattle at the Sierra Foothills Research and Extension Center
and worked as a avian influenza research assistant at UC Davis. She has
three cats, Zoe, Elsie and Bentley, and enjoys cooking in her
spare time.
Jackie Gordon
Jackie has an associates degree in
Social Sciences and is enrolled in the Veterinary Technology program at Foothill
college. She has been working as a Veterinary Technician at Park Centre
since since 2008. Jackie
has three cats, two Ball Pythons, a bearded dragon and a fish.
A member of the Encinal Yacht Club, she enjoys the outdoors
with her husband Jeremy. Jackie also operates an Alameda based pet
sitting business called
Island Pets.
Aubrey McElhiney
Before joining Park
Centre, Aubrey graduated with a B.S. in Biology from UCLA in 2009. She has
worked for the Animal Medical Centre of Southern California as well as with the
education department of the Los Angeles Zoo. She now lives in Alameda with
a rescued dog named Ellie, and a cornsnake named Spaghetti. Aubrey speaks
some Japanese, enjoys reading, jogging, bird-watching and following celebrity
gossip. Aubrey also works with Jackie at
Island Pets.
Ann Marie Courtney-Vasquez
Ann
Marie attended the College of Arts and Crafts. She has been at Park Centre for
14 years and works most mornings helping our clients and helping to organize the
office. She has three dogs, and a cat. She enjoys gardening, decorating and
art.
Lisa Quisito
Lisa
has been a receptionist with Park Centre since 2003. She
is on the Board of
Maine Coon Adoptions. She and her two cats, Carter
and Spencer, enjoy movies, music and making jewelry.
Debbie Dorney
Debbie has been a
receptionist with Park Centre since 2007, she has a Schnauzer and two cats.
Lynda Lantz
Lynda has been a
client of Park Centre for over fourteen years, and began working with part time as a receptionist in 2009. She works full
time as a Medical Assistant in a Dermatology office in Alameda. Lynda has
two dogs, Gussie and Buddy and 5 cats, Symba, Hershey, Coco, Spencer and Gary. When not working, she enjoys cooking, gardening, knitting and spending time with her pets.
Jessica Osborne
Jessica joined us in 2011 as a receptionist. She has previously held a number of positions at
Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center in San Ramon. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and dog Mistor.
Teresa Chauvez
Teresa
is our Kennel Supervisor and first started at Park Centre in 1993, after taking some time
off, she returned to our team in 2006. She has two cats, enjoys
reading, doing jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her
family. She is a fabulous baker and often brings in
goodies she has prepared for us at Park Centre,
Cassie VonGarvisch
Cassie
has been a Kennel Technician since 2007, also works as a Veterinary
Assistant and is currently
enrolled in the Veterinary Technology program at Carrington College.
She has a cat, enjoys soccer, go-cart driving and traveling.
